McMillan Township
Overview
A civil township in northern Luce County, McMillan Township has a total area of more than 600 square miles, making it the largest township in Michigan. Of its total area, around 590 sq. mi. of it is land and water makes up about 12 sq. mi. The majority of its population is in Newberry, the seat of Luce County.
McMillan Township is a quiet community filled with plenty of friendly people and it offers a diverse menu of exciting outdoor activities.
What’s in the Area
Visit Oswald’s Bear Ranch, the largest bear ranch in the United States. They have close to 30 bears and several different habitats, including one with a waterfall. Oswald’s is the perfect spot for a family outing.
Golfers can feel right at home in McMillan Township. There is a superb golf course and brand new restaurant at the Newberry Country Club.
Reconnect with Mother Nature and go for some unforgettable camping. McMillan Township is home to great camping areas such as the Northcountry Campground & Cabins, Pretty Lake State Forest Campground, and Two Hearted River Campground, all excellent venues with great facilities.
Among the area’s biggest attractions are the Tahquamenon Falls. The Upper and Lower Falls are among nature’s wonders and they can be found in the expansive, almost 50,000-acre Tahquamenon Falls State Park.
